SOLVED: Netbeans 7 FTP uploads fails after upgrading to JDK 7

Netbeans 7.0.1, JDK7, Windows 7 / Vista

Netbeans FTP uploads to a remote site fail after upgrading to JDK 7.
The issue is related to new features introduced in JDK7 FTP and by default blocked by Windows Firewall.

Solution:
1. Run cmd.exe as an administrator.
2. Run the following command in cmd:
netsh advfirewall set global StatefulFTP disable

You are done, try Netbeans FTP uploads now.

Installing MYSQL on RedHat Enterprise Linux RHEL 6.1

Select TAR installation if available, get the link of TAR and run
wget [link]

Uncompress
 tar -xvf MySQL-5.5.13-1.rhel5.x86_64.tar


Install server:
rpm -Uvh MySQL-server-5.5.13-1.rhel5.x86_64.rpm

Install client:

If trying to remote login as Administrator to a remote MS computer via Remote Desktop gives an error about too many open connections, do the following:

1. open cmd.exe on your local Windows machine

2. Run from command line:
mstsc /admin

This will run Remote Desktop and allow the login.

optional - 3. Open Task Monitor on the remote computer and 'logoff' all the logged in users but yours.

How to remove categories slugs in WordPress

WordPress adds default category slug to your blog URLs, so a URL to your category page looks like myblog.org/category/receipts/

You can replace 'category' word with whatever you want, e.g. with 'food', so you'll get
myblog.org/food/receipts/
Better, but still not ideal - what if your blog is not about food only?

Surprisingly, if you completely remove the categories slug in Settings->Permalinks, leaving the field there empty, WP will restore the default 'category' slug back.

WP has no option for that, but there is a nice plugin:
